Overview
On their way to the Gentner distillery, hikers find the body of Sebastian Wenger. The history student from Munich had returned to his hometown of Berchtesgaden after many years to write the anniversary publication for the traditional distillery. Patriarch Franz Gentner and his son Hubert want nothing to do with any conflict—and neither does distiller Loisl Bartels. Beissl soon discovers that the dead man had an affair with Kati, the distiller's daughter, and that she is expecting his child. This brings both Loisl and Kati's fiancé Clemens Brandner into the investigators' sights. But Jerry uncovers another secret that is closely intertwined with the young man's family history.
About the show
The series revolves around Chief Inspector Benedikt Beissl (Andreas Giebel), who lives in Berchtesgaden with his wife Elisabeth and their three daughters, Maria, Johanna, and Eva. Beissl has been upholding law and order in Berchtesgaden for decades. Much to his annoyance, he is one day assigned a new colleague. Until now, the solitary inspector has preferred to work alone. His new partner, Jerry Paulsen (Peter Marton), is the son of a Black GI and a landlady from Bad Aibling. He is quite daring, a team player, and moved from Hamburg to Bavaria for love. However, Jerry's love interest happens to be Beissl's daughter, Johanna. In each episode, the two police commissioners must solve a murder in the area. The locally rooted Beissl often knows the victims, their environment, and potential perpetrators.
