A climbing trip to the Grünstein proved fatal for Elisabeth. While Johanna is at home treating her mother's injured ankle, the Beissl family receives the news that the tour's mountain guide, internationally acclaimed climbing star Leon Stöhr, has been found dead. Dr. Hartmann determines beyond a doubt at the scene of the crime at the foot of the mountain that he was beaten to death. Sophia and Jerry's investigation quickly focuses on mountain filmmaker Maren Rieder. Contrary to her usual habits, she was not supposed to accompany the two climbing brothers Leon and Bastian on their prestigious US trip to Yosemite National Park and was very disappointed about this. Sophia also finds a headband in front of the Stöhrs' office. The dead man's brother, Bastian Stöhr, also seems suspicious. He obviously has something to hide. La série suit l'inspecteur en chef Benedikt Beissl (Andreas Giebel), qui vit à Berchtesgaden avec sa femme Elisabeth et ses trois filles Maria, Johanna et Eva. Beissl assure l'ordre et la loi à Berchtesgaden depuis des décennies. À son grand mécontentement, un nouveau collègue lui est assigné un jour. Jusqu'à présent, l'inspecteur solitaire aimait travailler seul. Son nouveau collègue Jerry Paulsen (Peter Marton) est le fils d'un GI noir et de la fille d'un aubergiste de Bad Aibling. Il est assez audacieux, sait travailler en équipe et a déménagé de Hambourg en Bavière par amour. Mais l'élue de Jerry est, de toutes les personnes, Johanna, la fille de Beissl. Les deux commissaires de police doivent résoudre un meurtre dans la région dans chaque épisode. Beissl, profondément enraciné localement, connaît souvent les victimes ainsi que leur entourage et les auteurs potentiels.
